The log cabins were built in 1947 when the area was flooded to create a reservoir for electricity generation at Arnprior. Originally a homesteaded farm, the property became known internationally, first as a hunting/fishing destination, later as a family trailer park with beachside '2 bedroom cottages' (at 14' X 14' and 16' X 16' the buildings are the same size as the originals, just organized differently). The cabins have been rebuilt and updated in the last 10 years. The driveway leading to the cabins is part of the historic Opeongo Settlement Road.

Low density accommodation provides for more escape from city life. All nature activities are self directed.
Campsites are groomed and have sturdy picnic tables. Each has its own firepit, except for group sites, which have one firepit to share.
This is a walkaround premises. Driving vehicles around the park is discouraged unless you have a mobility consideration.
