Langdon Hall, in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada was built in 1898 by Eugene Langdon Wilks, the great grandson of John Jacob Astor. This impressive American Federal Revival house, situated among 90 hectares (200 acres) of gardens and woodlands, has 53 guest rooms and two suites, each with its own charm. Amenities include ample walking trails, croquet lawn, tennis court, swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool and exercise room. Spa services and facilities with a full range of treatments are available.

Part of the ambience of country house hotels is due to their British origins and thus their natural focus on gardens. From the outset, the transformation of Langdon Hall from a private residence into a luxury country house hotel as envisaged by its founders architect William Bennett and Mary Beaton, embraced the British tradition.

There would be significant gardens at Langdon that combine restoration of earlier gardens and development of new landscapes.

A garden wonderland, Langdon Hall boasts two hundred acres of Carolinian Forest, manicured lawns and cultivated displays of colour. From the perennial, cloister and herb gardens to the water garden to the woods, fields and walking trails, Langdon Hall is alive with flora and fauna. The picturesque formal water garden, filled with waterlilies and Chinese geese, lies beneath the windows of the elegant main dining room. The view over the main gardens is of manicured green lawns, stone urns overflowing with seasonal flowers, and a backdrop of lush pine trees.

Plan a get-away to a beautiful country estate in Cambridge. At Langdon Hall in the summertime, the forest paths are dappled in sunlight, the gardens are in full bloom and life moves at a more leisurely pace. You can take a meal on the terrace, relax poolside, play croquet or be pampered at the Spa. Or play a round of golf nearby.

All overnight guests are welcome to enjoy the full amenities of Langdon Hall, which include the comfortable Main House sitting rooms, conservatories, and billiard and games room; the outdoor pool, tennis court and croquet lawn; 12km of walking trails; courtesy sports equipment including bicycles; whirlpool and sauna facilities at the Spa; indoor exercise room; and Langdon Hall's famed vegetable and flower gardens.
