Maplecrest Farm is a sheltered retreat in the rolling hills of the Wellington Countyside on a one hundred acre cash crop farm. We are only 9 km from Fergus on paved roads. The farmhosue is sheltered by century old sugar maples. There are 2 acres of gardens including a unique walled garden in the foundation of the old barn. The farmhouse is a restored century-old stone building -- which won the award as best Ontario Restoration in 1992 -- from the Ontario Home Buidlders Association.
The farmhouse has 2 foot thick stone walls and a new addition that offers a guest area in the "great room" with a wood burning fireplace, vaulted ceilings, countrysdide views and television entertainment. The bedrooms on the guest level are sheltered by the thick stone walls and shading trees plus cooling by central air circulation. Three bedrooms offer queen-sized, double and single beds. Enquire about our family retreat suite on the ground floor that is particularly kid friendly.
Breakfast menus are traditional country style with Wellington County produce plus fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from our gardens. We are pleased to respond to your special health and dietary needs.
Maplecrest welcomes bicycle riders, hikers and snowmbilers travelling the Elora to Cataract Rails to Trails which is only minutes away. We offer to meet trail travellers at the intersection of the Elora to Cataract Trail and the 2nd Line West Garafraxa. Only a couple of kilometers further south on the 2nd line West Garafraxa is the Renown Brown Trout Fishery on the Grand River.
Major tourist events at Belwood, Elora, St Jacobs and Kitchener/Waterloo are only 15 to 45 minutes away. Gardens and pottery studio are our focus and passion. Come and enjoy.
